Brazilian hardwood Ipe timber decking has a natural, rich, dark brown colour with occasional yellow tints and yellowish-brown sap. Left unstained it will gradually age to a lighter brown with grey overtones. However, Ipé can be stained to retain its rich, dark brown colour or it can be stained to give it a glossier finish.

Due to the immense strength and density of Ipe wood, in most circumstances it is unnecessary for boards to exceed 21mm thickness for any load bearing purposes. It is ideal for commercial projects where heavy wear is expected or projects near water.
