Over the years our Cedar deck kits have proved extremely popular with landscapers, garden designers and do-it-yourselfers alike. They are easy to build, contain all the essential components, and can easily be expanded and/or personalised with, railing and trellis.
Our standard deck kit contains everything you need to build a ground level deck over an existing solid base such as a patio (does not need to be level), or if no base exists, it can be built over a series of paving stones placed on solid ground.

Silva Timber now offer a wider choice of Cedar deck kits than ever with 25 in the range. Our deck kits are now supplied with our superb 40 x 140mm Cedardeck. Produced from coastal grown tight grained Western Red Cedar, this decking is full of character and stunningly beautiful. At 40mm thick this decking looks substantial and feels very solid underfoot. There is another advantage to using this thicker decking too: 40mm Cedar decking will span 600mm joist centres rather than the usual 400mm which reduces the labour time assembling the frame and screwing down the deck boards.
Assembly of our Cedar deck kits is relatively simple and only a few basic tools are required. Joists are screwed together to form the frame which sits in the Easyfix rubber joist supports. The frame is then levelled using the rubber shims before the deck boards are screwed down - it really is that simple!
Levelling with rubber shims is suitable when the base is slightly uneven. If the base is more than just slightly uneven we suggest that you order one or more of our treated Southern Yellow Pine posts which can be cut into short lengths and screwed to the frame to act as legs.

At 40mm (1 ½") this is thicker than most decking available in the UK. There are a number of advantages to using a thicker deck board. Firstly, the joists can be spaced at 600mm centres rather than the usual 400mm. This means that you will use fewer joists to construct the frame which will save both time and money. Secondly, when you come to screw the deck boards down you there will be a lot less screws to put in, again saving time and money. Finally, your deck will feel satisfyingly solid and sturdy underfoot.
Cedardeck is the highest grade of 'Architectural Knotty' Western Red Cedar available; exceeding grading rules set by the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association. Durable, well manufactured Cedar decking that comes ready to use.
