We have a number of clear grade Western Red Cedar posts available at a heavily reduced price due to fact that they are damaged or discoloured.
Although they don’t look too pretty in the photographs, these posts could easily be restored to their former glory as most of the defects present are superficial. These include:
- Excessive natural characteristics that are not representative of the grade
- Weathering / discolouration
- Handling damage
- Evidence of the manufacturing process
- Split ends
- Warping
The majority of these posts are still perfectly usable but may require some attention to improve their appearance. Discolouration can easily be removed by sanding or by using a wood cleaning product. Minor defects can be sanded out and even splits can be glued if necessary.
Two before & after images to the left demonstrate how the posts can be restored using a wood cleaning product with little effort. This particular post had a wood cleaner applied, was left for 15 minutes and then rinsed, removing dirt and highighting the grain of the post.
