Garden Designer: Blue Tulip Garden Design Landscaper: Green Belt Landscapes Product: Western Red Cedar Premium Slatted Screens
Western Red Cedar battens contributed simple clean lines that fit right in with the strong geometry in the design. Louise Harrison-Holland MSGD
The client's pre-existing garden was small, dark and unattractive. Louise from Blue Tulip Garden Design, was asked to lighten up the space and create an entertaining area.
Louise first came across Silva Timber in a magazine and found out about our range of contemporary fencing solutions. Louise explains why these "slatted screens" would be ideal for this project: "As I was working with such a small area, using horizontal slats would help to visually widen the space."
It was the first time that Louise used Western Red Cedar in a project and she was not disappointed. "Using Western Red Cedar was the right choice as I was looking for something crisp and sharp that would enhance the contemporary look of the new space, yet bring a warmth and softness to contrast with the stone and render. Western Red Cedar looks particularly good on a rainy day - the rain water makes the wood glow!"
About Western Red Cedar Slatted Screens
Western Red Cedar Slatted Screens create an architectural look that provides visually interesting shadow lines and texture within outdoor spaces. A well designed and carefully built screen can provide a wonderful focal point for an outdoor space, so choosing the correct material is paramount. No other material compares to Western Red Cedar in terms of appearance, with beautiful warm colours and tight grain patterns providing a stunning natural material.
The client was thrilled with Louise's design as well as the way that Matt Belt of Greenbelt Landscapes translated that design into the finished product. The Western Red Cedar battens contributed simple clean lines that fit right in with the strong geometry in the design.
