Description

Cascadia V-joint profile Western Red Cedar cladding is suitable for both internal and external applications. It has a tongue and groove connection for easy installation with no visible nails, and it can be fixed horizontally or vertically.

A simple bevel at both edges of the face creates a subtle V-shaped shadow line effect that will accentuate either the height or width of the building.

It forms part of the Cascadia range of kiln dried Western Red Cedar decking, cladding and boards.

At a glance

  • Install horizontally or vertically, with no visible nails
  • Sustainably sourced from well managed forests
  • Kiln dried for a uniform moisture content
  • Proven life expectancy of 60+ years

Made From the Highest Quality Wood Fibre

We have a limited number of short lengths of this profile which we are selling at a heavily reduced price. The shorter the length, the cheaper the price per lineal metre; so if you are building something that only requires shorts, then you can obtain this high quality Western Red Cedar cladding for a very attractive price.

This specific product in longer lengths is also a permanent stock item. These short lengths of Cascadia v-joint cladding come and go as and when they become available. When it hits the Specials List this material moves quickly, so if we have what you need we suggest you snap it up before it goes.

Raw Material and Production

Cascadia cladding is produced using only the highest quality wood fibre, so you can be assured that you are buying the very best select tight knot Western Red Cedar, grown in the British Columbia coastal region.

This is produced for Silva by Terminal Forest Products, a Canadian primary sawmill and manufacturer with an unparalleled international reputation for superior Western Red Cedar products.

This product is available exclusively in the UK through Silva. It is sustainably sourced from well managed forests and supplied with full PEFC chain of custody certification.

Grade

This Western Red Cedar V-Joint cladding is produced from select tight knot grade British Columbia coastal grown Western Red Cedar to meet the NLGA grade ‘Select Knotty’. This quality of this material exceeds the grading standard. A detailed explanation of the grade can be found in the Grading / Quality information tab.

Kiln Dried

This cladding is kiln dried to a moisture content of 16-18% (+/-2%), the optimal moisture content for external cladding in the UK. Among its many benefits over air drying, the kiln drying process enables the boards to dry uniformly to achieve optimum dimensional stability. It also enables immediate application of coatings and minimises site acclimatisation. For more information on the benefits of kiln dried timber click here.

Surface Texture

This V-Joint cladding is planed smooth on one side with a SAWtex® textured surface on the other face.

The SAWtex® face is recommended as it will accept and retain finish significantly better than the planed face, thus improving appearance and minimising future maintenance.

Finishing & Protection

It is recommended that a finish is applied to all surfaces, including ends, before installation. The type of coating will be determined by the final finish and appearance desired.

Why factory coat?

  • Enhances the natural beauty of wood
  • Ensures a consistent finish
  • Applied in factory conditions
  • Long lasting protection against weathering
  • Simple maintenance routine
  • Reduces onsite labour costs

Sansin Enviro Stains

Easy to apply and maintain, Sansin Enviro-stains deliver outstanding performance. Sansin's range of wood protection products are available in 80 colour tones

What is weathering?

There is a risk involved when leaving wood exposed to the elements. During the weathering process wood can appear unsightly as the material can blacken due to moisture getting into the fibres and pulling out tannins and extractives. Finish protects the wood from moisture absorption and UV degradation.

Environment

This product is PEFC certified.

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.

PEFC works throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards. Thanks to its  eco-label, customers and consumers are able to identify products from sustainably managed forests.
