Once you've tried Silva's stainless-steel star drive deck screws, you'll never use an ordinary screw again - they will outperform slotted, Philips, Pozi, and square drive screws in every respect.
The deep six-point star-shaped recess enables the driver bit to lock-in, and because there is a greater area of contact, the bit grips the screw tighter, reducing installation torque. Combine this with a sharp cutting tip that bites into the wood, along with a serrated thread, and you have a seriously impressive deck screw that drives effortlessly into most wood types.

Depending on its size, a timber deck typically involves the insertion of hundreds or even thousands of screws. Whether you are a professional installer or a do-it-yourselfer, you must select a screw that is fast and easy to install, and most importantly, is reliable. Silva's star drive stainless steel deck screws drive effortlessly into most wood types and are guaranteed to reduce the installation time on any project significantly. By saving you time, they'll be saving you money!
Anyone who's ever driven a screw in knows how annoying cam-out is - when the bit slips out of the screw head as torque increases. It's not only frustrating, but it can also damage the screw head, preventing it from being driven in or out. The improved engagement of the star drive virtually eliminates cam-out and will pull wood components tightly together with ease.
Silva's stainless-steel star drive deck screws look neat too. Countersinking blades under the head help cut a clean hole for the head and remove loose wood fibres for a perfect finish every time.
A star drive bit is included free with each box. We recommend you buy a few spares, especially if it's a big project.
4.5 x 50mm screws require a T20 bit (silver).
5.0 x 60mm / 70mm / 80mm / 100mm screws require a T25 bit (green).
Stainless steel offers the ultimate level of corrosion resistance. Unlike some steel fasteners, it won't react with stain-causing tannins present in some wood species like Western Red Cedar and Oak. Stainless steel is a softer metal than carbon steel, and it will flex to some extent; however, this is advantageous, particularly for decking. Exterior wood will swell and shrink by a small amount as moisture is absorbed in the winter months and released in the summer months. Stainless steel deck screws can flex without breaking to a certain degree as the wood expands and contracts.
