Fraké Noir is the brand name for a thermally modified hardwood called Limba. A natural heat treatment process that uses only heat and steam (no chemical additives) significantly improves this non-durable timber species' performance.
Thermally modified Fraké Noir meets Durability Class 1, designating it 'very durable' with a service life of 25+ years according to NEN-EN 350-2. The thermal modification process also makes the wood extremely stable and gives it a characteristic walnut/chocolate brown colour, with a warm, luxurious appearance.
This superior thermally modified hardwood is ideally suited for exterior cladding applications. It combines an attractive, virtually knot-free appearance with excellent performance attributes at a competitive price point.
Fraké boards are used for open jointed cladding, fascia, barge boards, door and window reveals, corner trim, fences, horizontal slatted screens, and many more applications.

Limba used in Fraké Noir's production is sourced from FSC 100% origin with a reduced impact on logging areas, thereby giving the forest an enduring economic value to ensure it remains preserved and valued as a resource for local employment opportunities. One tree per hectare is logged on a 25-year cycle.
Fraké Noir from Silva Timber is supplied with full FSC chain-of-custody certification.
Coatings: The application of a coating is necessary to protect the wood and optimise its appearance over time. The coating should be applied to all surfaces, including ends, before installation. Choose from our wide range of high-performance wood coating systems.
Factory coating service: Fraké Noir can be supplied factory coated. Having the coating pre-applied on all sides enables it to be installed at any time of year, regardless of the weather or temperature. Please Contact Us for a quotation.
Fraké Noir Boards are graded on one face only. Boards are not reversible and, as such, some surface/roller marks may be expected on the rear of the boards.
