The protective decking spacer strip is inserted between timber decking and the substructure when face fixing the deck boards. It is designed to help prevent moisture from becoming trapped between timber components by increasing air circulation. This creates a healthier environment between the deck boards and substructure that can enhance the performance and prolong the life of the timber.

Made from reinforced thermo-plastic with UV light and frost protection, the Protective Spacer Strip is supplied in 10m rolls which are simply rolled out along the joists and cut to length. Deck boards are screwed to the joists using the normal procedure. The screw should penetrate through the Protective Decking Spacer Strip to secure it in position. It also allows some flexibility which will reduce the risk of screws shearing as deck boards shrink and swell throughout the seasons.
