About

Sansin Wood Sealer is a water-borne penetrating sealer that aggressively repels water while allowing the wood to breathe. Over a short time, the wood will weather uniformly to a beautiful silver-grey tone. Because it erodes gently with time, maintenance is easy - just apply a fresh coat of Wood Sealer. Recommended for use on new and old wood surfaces such as decks, fences, siding, timbers and roofing shingles or shakes.

This 0-VOC water-borne penetrating sealer aggressively repels water while allowing the wood to breathe. Over time, the wood will grey naturally to a driftwood tone from exposure to the sun - while retaining its water-repellency to protect against weathering and wood rot.

In fact, Sansin Wood Sealer easily surpasses the ASTM 4446, the standard industry benchmark for water repellency. Test results show that, on average, one application of Sansin Wood Sealer reduces water absorption by 84% and swelling by 72%.

Sansin Wood Sealer dries clear and will not peel and can be used for interiors as well as exteriors. A 3-year limited warranty on Sansin Wood Sealer is available on projects where it has been applied to properly prepared surfaces as per directions for use. Wood Sealer is ideal for log homes, decks, fences, wood shingles, gazebos, yard furniture and wood siding.

One question we're often asked is whether you should use a water-based or oil-based coating when protecting wood surfaces. With Sansin Enviro Stains, you can have the best of both worlds.

Enhanced durability and moisture control

Sansin lets wood 'breathe' more freely, dramatically improving dimensional stability and allowing the wood to adjust naturally to moisture levels in the environment. Once it bonds with your wood, Sansin forms a long-lasting shield that aggressively repels condensed water while allowing water vapour to escape.

Protection from UV radiation

As well, the paraffin waxes used to protect against water in many water and solvent-based coatings are easily damaged by exposure to UV radiation - just 5 hours of direct sunlight can reduce water repellency by over 60%. Like your own skin, your home needs dependable UV protection. Sansin's modified natural oils and resins are impregnated with special UV protectants so every exposed cell of your wood is protected. Because of their unique formulation, Sansin Enviro Stains also protect naturally against wood decay.

Sansin Enviro Stains are designed to keep your wood healthy, just as Mother Nature intended. Whether it's your home, your deck or your furniture, Sansin provides the long-lasting, beautiful protection that your home deserves.

Every wood coating needs to be maintained - it's just easier with Sansin.

Where successive film-build coatings can darken and peel, Sanin is designed to wear gently over time. Keeping your home protected involves only a simple cleaning and maintenance coat, applied as needed.

Environment

Taking advantage of nature

Modified natural oils and resins are carried deep into the wood's cell structure using one of nature's commonplace miracles - water. As the water evaporates, Sansin bonds directly with a wood substrate, forming a tough, durable barrier that won't crack, peel or blister.

Sansin Enviro Stains are created using the same principle used for thousands of years. In fact, the ancient people of Norway took resin and gums from the heartwood of trees, warmed it and applied it to their Stave Churches with a broom, buildings which are still standing to this day.

A wide spectrum of natural colour tones

With Sansin Enviro Stains, not only can you protect your wood naturally, but you can also invite the beauty of nature into your life. Sansin's collection of 79 unique colours is inspired by the stunning beauty of our world - the deep blue of the summer's sky, the rich yellows of a ripe harvest and the pure tones of a sandy beach.

Natural protection

Sansin doesn't just stain your wood; it actually becomes an integral part of your wood's cell structure, protecting it naturally from within. Because Sansin stains are water-borne, they can be applied even to the wood with high moisture content, with no harmful impact on the environment.

The science behind healthy wood

Wood is a tremendously versatile material - and as long as it's protected, a very strong and durable one. Water, ultraviolet (UV) rays and fungi can all seriously damage your wood.

Traditional petroleum and acrylic-based coatings protect the wood by forming a surface film which repels water and UV rays. Unfortunately, this tends to prevent evaporation, trapping moisture in the making it prone to decay.

Committed to conservation

Sansin Enviro Stains are low-odour, easy to use, maintain, and they are easy on the environment. Sansin's commitment to conservation is paramount and reflected both in their products and business practices.
