Garden Designer Andrew Farquharson was tasked with designing an outdoor entertainment area for a customer who also wanted to improve his existing garden. The design called for a calming, yet functional social space, with plenty of seating – to accommodate guests.
Having sourced a gazebo, Andrew required decking with colour tones and patterns to match. He explains, “Southern Yellow Pine decking was the perfect fit. The colour tones were in tune with the structure, and the complex grain was just exquisite.”
One of the most durable softwoods used for decking, Southern Yellow Pine offers tremendous performance characteristics and unique aesthetics, while providing a very good value proposition. Andrew continues, “All the timber I source from Silva Timber is of very high quality, but for this particular project, Southern Yellow Pine’s value for money was very attractive. I would have no problem using this species of decking again in the future.”
In addition to decking, Andrew also installed Siberian Larch Trim Boards, finished in a light wash of light stoney-grey paint. “The translucency of the meant that the pronounced grain patterns of Siberian Larch come through. Myself and (more importantly) the customer are very pleased with the mix of interesting grain patterns that the two species provide.”
Silva Timber's Siberian Larch cladding is equally popular with self-builders, architects and construction companies due to attractive appearance, durability and longevity.
Siberian Larch is a sustainable, old-growth timber that has been used in construction for centuries. Its popularity lies in the fact it is aesthetically beautiful, naturally durable and long lasting. The remarkable qualities and unique performance characteristics of Siberian Larch have led it to be referred to as the 'Tree of Eternity'. It is used extensively throughout Europe and has proven itself in the harshest of climates.
