This material is removed during the production process because it does not meet Terminal's strict quality standards for their prestigious 'Cowichan Gold' brand v-joint cladding.
We are offering it with the caveat that there will be some damage and, therefore, some trimming. It has defects on the smooth side, so it is installed with the fine sawn (SAWTEX®) face exposed. It is not dual-sided.
However, do not let this put you off. We have sold this on and off for several years now. It has always gone down very well with customers, and it is a staff favourite too. We know it offers excellent value for money, and once installed looks superb.
You will undoubtedly generate some wastage, but by carefully planning each board's position before you begin, you can optimise the material for minimal waste. Rustic is aimed at those who are used to working with wood and can turn this material into something special.
Rustic v-joint is sold unchecked with defects as described. We are unable to exchange individual boards, and you buy it on the understanding that you absorb any wastage.
The SAWTEX® surface texture gives this cladding a beautiful natural appearance that makes the wood grain more visible and exudes a feeling of warmth, adding an extra layer to its appeal.
If you intend to apply a coating, this fine sawn surface texture is perfect for absorbing a penetrating stain with no additional preparation. SAWTEX® enables the coating to penetrate deep into the wood, rather than it just sitting on the surface as it would with a smooth surface. The result is deeper, richer, and more consistent colour because more stain is in the wood, and the overall level of penetration is more even. Deeper penetration of the coating also ensures that the wood is better protected and requires less frequent maintenance.

Western Red Cedar is the ultimate green building material. It is legally, responsibly and sustainably harvested in the publicly managed forests of British Columbia, Canada. Less than 1% of standing timber is harvested each year.
For each tree harvested, three are replanted to ensure the forests will exist in perpetuity. Western Red Cedar has a low impact on the environment throughout its life cycle. It requires significantly less energy to produce than man-made alternatives and is bio-degradable.
