ThermoWood Pine Fencing

Silva's ThermoWood Pine is produced by heat-treating Finnish grown European Redwood (Scandinavian Pine) to create ThermoWood 'D', a durable and dimensional stable timber that is ideal for slatted screen fences.

Why choose ThermoWood?

It has been known for centuries that burning the surface of the wood in an open fire will make it more durable in exterior use.

During the heat treating process, the wood colour darkens, it becomes more stable than normal wood in conditions of changing humidity, and its thermal insulation properties are improved.  The treatment process also makes the wood resistant to decay.

ThermoWood ‘D’ will, therefore, provide a 30-year service life, when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Does ThermoWood cladding need protecting?

Although the lifespan of ThermoWood ‘D’ unprotected can reach up to 30 years in optimum environments, by applying a surface coating, you can achieve 60+ years if applied at the outset and maintained periodically.

Factory coating service

ThermoWood ‘D’ slatted screen boards can be supplied factory coated enabling it to be installed at any time of year regardless of the weather or temperature.

Is ThermoWood sustainably sourced?

The timber used to produce Silva ThermoWood is sourced from well managed and sustainable forests which are fully certified under the Pan European Forestry Certification (PEFC) scheme.
