Silva's 19 x 38mm Western Red Cedar Battens is a versatile product suitable for a range of purposes. As well as creating stunning slatted screens, these western red cedar battens are often used for cladding applications where they can be installed vertically, horizontally and even diagonally. 

Produced from A & Better Grade Western Red Cedar, these battens are lightweight and are exceptionally durable. To maintain the crisp, clean lines that are essential to the overall look of your project it is important to choose a material that does not warp or twist. Being one of the most stable wood species on the planet, these western red cedar battens fit the bill perfectly.

  • Size: 19 x 38mm.
  • Grade: Select Premium Clear.
  • Profile: Board with radial edged. 
  • Installation: Horizontal, vertical or diagonal orientation.
  • Surface texture: Smooth. 

Key Properties

  • Colour: Colour palette of mellow colour tones, which vary from light amber to dark reddish-brown.
  • Durability: When properly finished and maintained, Western Red Cedar will deliver decades of trouble-free service. It has a decay resistance of durability class 2 (durable) according to the EN 113 standard. 
  • Stability: Western Red Cedar has excellent dimensional stability because of its low wood density and shrinkage factor.  Shrinkage and swelling are minimal, displaying only small movements with changes in humidity.

  • Sourcing/certification: Western Red Cedar is sourced from the most sustainably managed forests in the world in British Columbia, Canada.

Optional Extras

  • Finishes: We recommend a finish is applied to all surfaces, including ends, before installation. Choose from a wide range of Sansin paint and stain products.
  • Factory coating service: Can be supplied factory coated, enabling it to be installed at any time of year, regardless of the weather or temperature. Please Contact Us for a quotation. 

Samples

We offer free of charge samples*, up to a maximum of 3 species/profiles.

For each item requested, we will send out 2 samples so that you are able to assess how the profiles fit together (excludes boards). 

If your required profile is not in stock please check back in a few days to see if further stock has been added.

Our standard delivery network is within a local postcode radius of a Beesley & Fildes Branch. However, many items can be delivered outside of this radius and nationwide subject to a separate haulage quotation. Subject to terms and conditions.
